Parenthood is both one of the most fulfilling and one of the most challenging experiences in a person’s life.
The figure of the mother is not only a symbol of dedication and love, but also of strength and steadfastness.
However, when the unknown “disability” enters the family equation, the paradigm of an incomplete and low-quality life becomes embedded in the social thinking.
Even in today’s more liberal and inclusive social environments, women and girls with disabilities are facing multiple and varied discrimination in all areas of life.
Mother Matters– MoMs project is here to dispel myths and change perspectives on motherhood and women with disabilities by disseminating information among professionals and people with disabilities themselves and encouraging the competences/skills of both groups in order to overcome communication and knowledge gaps at national and European level.
Because a woman with disabilities IS ABLE to pursue her career, lead a social and independent life and raise her children.
