With 159 votes in favor 😱 and widespread public protest, the Bulgarian parliament passed a law prohibiting “the promotion, encouragement, or incitement in any way, directly or indirectly, within the educational system of ideas and views related to non-traditional sexual orientation and/or gender identity different from the biological one.” ⏰
This measure has raised serious concerns regarding the protection of human rights and freedom of expression!
Nevertheless, together with our partners in the ELIS project, we continue to focus on inclusion and the development of tools 👩🏫 and resources to support parents and teachers of LGBTQ+ children 🌻. The goal of this project, in line with the EU’s commitments to equality and non-discrimination ❣️, is to create a healthy and supportive environment for everyone. 👍
